We all have the same 24 hours in a day. The most successful entrepreneur peers rock at managing their time, especially the first 3 hours in their day. I have interviewed a bunch of people, done some research, and have compiled a list of 6 things that successful entrepreneurs do in the morning before 10 a.m. Hopefully you can integrate a few of these into your morning and get more done in less time. How cool is that?
- Eat a solid breakfast. Get some protein in you. Get your brain in high performance mode.
- Exercise or stretch. Get the blood flowing. Go for a run. Take a swim. Go to the gym. Go on a brisk walk.
- Make a list of what you need to do for the day. Rank them in order of importance. No matter what else happens, make completing that task a priority. Completing the most important task(s) of the day was the biggest answer I got. Try doing thought work first. Some people focus on their creative work first. They see themselves as more creative earlier in the day. Many don’t check social media in the first 2 hours of the am, unless their biz heavily relies on it.
- Many successful people don’t check email first thing (like within 30 minutes of waking up) in the morning. They think that checking email means that you are focusing on other people’s priorities rather than your own. Sending emails is different because you are initiating something that you want to get done.
- Start with one hour dedicated to you. Listen to inspiring music. Meditate, exercise, stretch.
- Wake up early. Almost everyone gave me this answer. Many entrepreneurs feel more productive in the morning. They get up before anyone else in the house does. They cherish that quiet time.
You don’t have to do all of these but give it a shot. Just pick one — #3 is my fave.
